GSTA Summer Fun League
The Grand Strand Tennis Association, made up of all local pros, will sponsor the 20th annual Adult Women’s Summer Fun League to begin in June. This inter-club league was created and organized by the GSTA in 1997 and has approximately 200 players every year.
Matches are played every Monday evening at 6 p.m. and the season last for approximately 10 weeks.
Although this non-sanctioned league is open to men or women, thus far only women have participated in the league. Teams are divided into three divisions: A (4.0), B (3.5) and C (3.0) levels. Matches consist of three doubles teams. Cost for one team is $125.
Since this is a non-sanctioned league, winning teams do not advance to any playoffs or state championships. But all participants are entitled to an end of the season tennis clinic taught by the pros and a catered dinner held in late August.
Also, last year was the second Winter Fun League held from late September to mid-November and it, too, was a great success.
Proceeds from the league are used for the GSTA to support other worthy tennis projects along the Grand Strand.
If you are interested in forming a team, call Neal Peterson at 650-5505 or email: Neal.Peterson @Hotmail.com to declare your team.
