The Myrtle Beach Freedom indoor football team finished up their regular season at home going against the league juggernaut Columbus Lions.
The Freedom fell to the high-powered Georgia team 52-15. Columbus finished their regular season with a perfect 8-0 record.
The local team played with a lot of heart but the perennially tough Lions were just too fast and big to keep up with.
The Lions jumped on the board first with two touchdowns but the Freedom defense settled down and slowed the Columbus attack.
Freedom quarterback Ty Zimmerman eluded the Lions defense for a five-yard TD scamper with two minutes left in the first half to get the Freedom close at 14-7 but the Lions struck again just before the half.
For the second half, the Lions defensive speed kept the Freedom offense at bay.
Despite the disappointing loss, the Freedom completed their inaugural season with a winning record of 6-4 and go on the road next week for the first round of the playoffs.
