The Xtra Inch, in partnership with Select Health of South Carolina’s First Choice Medicaid health plan, will present the First Choice Fit Marcus Lattimore youth football camp Aug. 13 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at Carolina Forest High School. The camp is for boys and girls ages 5-17. There will also be a free community health fair for the participants as well as the public. The first 25 First Choice Medicaid health plan members to register will receive full camp scholarships.
Camp sign in, which includes the health screenings for camp participants, begins promptly at 8 a.m. Closing remarks and lunch begin at 1:15 p.m.

Pelicans sponsor Move for United Way
The Myrtle Beach Pelicans will host a benefit for United Way of Horry County beginning with a game Aug. 19 versus Lynchburg at 7:05 p.m. On Aug. 20 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., there will be activities for all ages including yoga, boxing classes, fitness instruction, exercises for kids, bounce castles for kids, a stroll for seniors and more.

Golf tournament planned
Bridgewater Academy, a K-8 charter school in Myrtle Beach, will host its fourth annual Bridgewater Academy Golf Benefit Sept. 10 at River Oaks Golf Plantation in Myrtle Beach.
The tournament will feature a four-person captain’s choice format. Tournament day check-in begins at 7:30 a.m. and tee time is 8 a.m. Entry fees are $300 per foursome and include breakfast, lunch, green fees, cart fees and beverages while playing. An opportunity for corporate sponsors is available for $500 per foursome that includes hole signage.
There will also be a silent auction with items ranging from Disney tickets to Carolina Panthers memorabilia. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams and there will also be a long drive contest, hit the Chick-fil-A cow to win Chick-fil-A for a year, door prizes and more. Conway Christian hosts soccer camp
Conway Christian School will host a soccer camp for students in grades 5-12 July 18-21 from 8 a.m.-noon. Cost is $65 per camper and includes a camp t-shirt and daily games, drills and skill work. There is a limit of 40 campers and participants must sign a waiver. Participants are encouraged to ear sunscreen, shin guards, soccer cleats, shorts and t-shirts and bring a water bottle. A number of former professional athletes will be at The Ripken Experience Myrtle Beach youth baseball and softball complex this summer as part of the celebrity ambassador series lineup for the 2016 tournament season.
The 2016 Ripken Experience Myrtle Beach tournament ambassador series will offer weeklong participants the opportunity to meet former Major Leaguers and hear stories and life lessons based on their professional experiences.
