St. James’ Chelsea Lewis signed her letter of intent to play tennis at Converse College on May 4.
Lewis will graduate from St. James with the highest academic honors the school offers. She has a 3.8 unweighted and a 4.7 weighted GPA. At Converse she plans to major in Economics and carry a double minor in English and Politics with aspirations of becoming a lawyer and then a politician.
Converse College is a liberal arts masters university in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Converse College teams participate as a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s Division II and a member of the Conference Carolinas.
Lewis has played varsity tennis for the Sharks since the seventh grade and worked her way up the ladder to the No. 2 Singles position this year where she made First Team All-Region. She has lettered for six years in tennis.
The 18-year-old senior has also played two other sports for St. James. On another court she played small forward on the basketball team for five years lettering her sophomore and senior seasons and she lettered in softball this year playing the right-field position.
Lewis is also very involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Among her other interests she likes to play guitar and sing country and Fleetwood Mac songs.
