Apparently one tournament championship last week wasn’t enough for Big Shots Elite 2021. After sweeping their way to the NTBA national title on July 11, the local team backed up their basketball ability by winning the Big Shots Live 2 tournament at the Myrtle Beach Sports Center.

Big Shots Elite 2021 defeated DC Premier out of Washington DC 63-54 for the Boys 15-Under title. Socastee rising sophomore James Jones was named the tournament MVP, averaging 21 points per game.

Jones is one of eight local high school players on the squad, including Carolina Forest’s Grant Warren and Kyle Watkins, Myrtle Beach’s Ayden Hickman, North Myrtle Beach’s Javil Marlowe, St. James’ Jeremiah Nesbitt, Loris’ Jamarious Herring and Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach’s Lawton Fulford.

Big Shots Elite 2021 defeated Carolina ICE 62-46 in their opener, led by Jones with 29 points and Watkins with 16. They same duo scored 18 points apiece in a win over Gardner Road-Whitney out of Raleigh, North Carolina. They beat WBCA out of Raleigh, North Carolina, 62-53 to reach the final.

The AAU tournament attracted more than 200 teams and featured college coaches from 18 Division I colleges, including the ACC, SEC, Big 12, Big 10 and Big East.
