Coastal Carolina University suffered their ninth straight loss tonight against the Troy University Trojans. Coastal had a new starting quarterback for the night, but with 2 interceptions, the Chanticleers just couldn’t get into a consistent groove. The final score was 42-17.
Coastal Carolina had to start the game coming from behind after Troy ran back the kickoff to start the game 7-0. Junior transfer Kilton Anderson got the start for the night, scoring 2 touchdowns, but throwing just as many interceptions. Anderson threw for 157 yards going 13 of 25. Coastal kicked the ball off again to Marcus Jones, who had ran back one touchdown already, and ran back another on the following kickoff, giving Troy the upper hand.
Senior Osharmar Abercrombie was the rushing leader for the Chanticleers on the night with 55 yards.
Coastal Carolina was able to have an above average night against Troy’s strong defensive front with 258 yards of offense, although Troy had five sacks on Coastal for the night.
Coastal got the offense going with Kilton Anderson’s 31 yard touchdown throw to junior Malcolm Williams. Although Coastal never led on the night they held their own, keeping up with Troy on both sides of the ball.
The is the longest losing streak that Coastal Carolina University has ever had in football. Their next game is away at Idaho next week.
