The new Coastal Carolina Little League will be represented in the state tournament for the first time this weekend in Chester.

Members of the team are Jayden Carnahan, Will Griffin, Lewis Everett, Trey Rockey, Matt Infield, Steve “Tre” Money, Tripp Walls, Maddux Smith, Jacob Daniels, Hayden Johnson, Kyle Mazie, John John Jones, and D.J. Willard. The coaches are Scotty Smith, Scott Everett and Tim Johnson.

The league began competition this summer with four teams made up of players ages 11 and 12 years old.

The program was organized and plays on the girls’ softball field at Socastee High School. The school was very supportive of the program, and it provides an outreach for the high school program since most of the players will be playing baseball at Socastee High School in the future.

The community and volunteers raised all funds to support the program, and the first season was a great success.

The All-Star team is prepared and excitement is in the air as it heads to Chester for the start of a journey it hopes will end at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa.

The team recently got a chance to meet Coastal Carolina pitcher Mike Morrison and see the national championship trophy that the Chanticleers won at the College World Series in Omaha, Neb.
