To the editor:
I cannot tell the difference between the “crazies” on either side of the heritage debate. From the taking down of Confederate statues, the defacing of a peace monument in Atlanta, the burning of an Abraham Lincoln statue in Chicago or the call for the removal of a statue of the late West Virginia Sen. Robert Byrd at its state capital.
But if they’re going to go after anything that had anything to do with this country’s past history with slavery, I would expect these demonstrators to start tearing pages from church hymnals the song, “Amazing Grace.”
All because it was written by a known slave trader. One that later gave up doing that, seeking forgiveness from God the Father.
Forgiveness is something that these people are lacking.
