Walkers Woods is once again getting ready for its annual homeowners meeting, which is on May 8 at 6 p.m. at the amenity center. By now, all homeowners should have received a packet with a notice of the meeting.
Inside the packet is information about the homeowners who are running for the three open positions. The voter form needed to be returned to Waccamaw Management by May 1.
You will also see the pool rules so read over them with your family. There is an updated Rules and Regulations with Architectural Standards booklet for you also. The board asks that when you fill out the proxy form, you check “yes” for approval regarding the tax resolution.
If the membership votes to approve the resolution, the excess income can be applied against the subsequent year’s assessments and expenses, and therefore reduce the association’s tax liability as provided by IRS Revenue Ruling 70-604. Remember, the primary purpose of the annual meeting is for the membership to elect directors and to transact other business that shall properly come before the meeting.
Member comments will be discussed.
The board thanks Dick Fillwock and Warren Miller for replacing the damaged flag poll at our entrance on Tuckahoe Road.
With the good weather now and golf carts coming out, we remind everyone that you must be at least 16 years old and have a valid South Carolina license to drive a golf cart on our roads.
Also, the speed limit inside Walkers Woods is 15 mph. Please be careful. Kids will be out playing.
With the pool now open for the season, the board reminds everyone that the umbrellas are expensive to replace, so when you leave the pool, close the umbrellas.
The event committee has been busy. The annual Easter egg hunt for the kids had a small turn out, but the kids had fun.
The committee also held the monthly bingo and the community garage sale in April.
The events schedule for May includes the monthly meeting at the amenity center on May 6, exercise class on May 7, and on Saturday, May 11 will be Trivia Night at 7 p.m. at the amenity center.
Look for an email about where the Friday, May 17 Go-Getters lunch will be.
Bingo will be May 30 at 7 p.m.
Once again, we remind residents to take a few minutes and sign up on our website, www.walkerwoodsPOA.com. This is the way the board puts out information on what’s happening in our community.
