Ron Tagliabue (NEW)

Bingo has become another fun evening for the residents of The Farm. Forty-six residents showed up to try to win some prizes donated by the community.

Some of the happy winners were Connie Gyrb, Angie Blizzard, Les Blizzard, Rochelle Lind, Tyler Gyrb, and Dave Koss.

Thanks to Dave Koss for hosting and cleaning up after the event.

Don’t forget the craft show is set for Saturday, Oct. 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Aqua aerobics led by Debra Shovlin will continue in the big pool on Monday and Thursdays from 8:15 to 9 a.m.

The last class will be on Monday, Oct. 14, the last day the pool is open for the season. The small pool closes Oct. 1.

The activity committee wants to honor our veterans with an afternoon appreciation lunch recognizing their commitment, dedication, and sacrifice for our country on Nov. 9 at 11 a.m.

If you haven’t signed up and you are a veteran, contact Debra Shovlin at 607-240-9845 or email to

The book club will start its new season on Oct.11 in the amenity center at 10:30 a.m. The book to be discussed is “The Bluest Eye” by Toni Morrison.

Barbara Macpherson welcomes two new members, Joyce Daly and Stella Mazor, to the club. New members are always welcome.

A few items from our management company:

The contractor who installs our rip rap around our ponds will be on site to check the need to replace some of the rip rap. Pictures of the problem with pond 17 have been sent to DR Horton. Horton did repairs to the bank of the pond, but it seems to be eroding again.

New eight-foot tables have been ordered for the amenity center.

The UTV is in the shop for needed repairs. We are hoping to get it back this week.

Recently, the grounds committee held its monthly meeting, and in general, has found The Farm to be in good condition.

Chairman Paul Hoppes assigns all members of the committee areas to check. They reported The Farm fared well after the hurricane. Only five trees were down and some debris was picked up by our landscaping company. No major damage to any of The Farm amenities.

It was reported the new drainage system in the playground area seems to be doing the job. Previously, heavy rains would create a problem in the playground.

Two of the windows in the workout room have condensation in them.

The committee will install signs for the upcoming craft show.

Paul Hoppes, who is also our Firewise chairman, has submitted our Firewise grant request for 2020.

The next meeting of the grounds committee is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 4 p.m.

A full report on our ponds was submitted by Brian Pugsley and George Karaganeas.

The committee welcomes three new members, Juliana and David Powell and Denny Mast. Thanks for joining.

All committees submit their minutes to the board for further consideration. The board thanks them all for their hard work and dedication to The Farm.

I am always looking for items of interest. Email to ronaldtagliabue@

Till next time.
