The communications committee’s excellent August newsletter specially lists all Plantation Lakes pool rules to be obeyed at all times. Any misuse or damage in the pool area should be reported to Waccamaw Management at 843-903-9551. These rules apply to all residents and their accompanied guests.
Thursday, Aug. 15, the ladies luncheon is scheduled at Rivertown Bistro with lovely hostesses Kathy Childress, Nancy Ortiz and Rebecca Lopez.
Friday, Aug. 16 at 7 p.m. is Plantation Lakes’ remembering Woodstock 50th anniversary happy hour at the clubhouse. This fun event is chaired by social committee-member Wendy Pistoia. Wear your tie-dyed shirt, jeans or any ‘60s era attire that you have. Bring an appetizer or dessert to share and your own beverage.
Plantation Lakes’ clubhouse is the venue for all committee and club meetings.
Tuesday, Aug. 27, the covenants committee and the lake committee meet at 7 p.m.
Thursday, Aug. 29, the finance committee meets at 6:30 p.m. The website listed time is incorrect.
Plantation Lakes’ free water aerobics classes continue through August on Monday – Friday at 8:45 a.m. weather permitting. Guests must be accompanied by resident hosts. Registration is unnecessary. Bring noodles and water weights.
Thursday, Aug. 29 after class from 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. is the post-season breakfast at the clubhouse. If it rains, the breakfast will begin 8:45 a.m. Anyone who participated in any classes this summer is welcome. Use the signup sheet to list what item you will bring to the breakfast. Examples are muffins, quiche, fruit or a beverage. Everyone thanks Diane and Renee for devoting their time and energy as aerobic coaches every Monday - Friday this summer. Friday, Aug. 30 at 4:30 p.m. is Plantation Lakes’ annual dog days of summer happy hour at Sam Snead’s Oak Grill and Tavern, 1004 Glenforest Road.
This annual event benefits Grand Strand Humane Society at 3241 Mr. Joe White Ave. Please bring food, toys, treats or a check donation for their dogs and cats.
Social committee member Linda Elias has chaired this for the past eight years.
Sept. 5 and 19, the Architectural Review Board meets at 9 a.m. Thursday night Sept. 5, the board of directors meets at 6:30 p.m. and accepts residents’ questions until 7 p.m. At the Aug. 1 meeting, it was mentioned the police patrolling Plantation Lakes have issued eight citations over the past month. The police are also monitoring golf cart drivers more closely.
Thursday, Sept. 12 from 1-4 p.m. is the Card-creating/scrapbooking Club chaired by Diane Colarik.

The committee is supporting local charity Fostering Hope, Inc., www.fosteringhopeinc.com, in Conway this year. The charity’s mission is to “provide basic necessities to children in crisis situations.” We bring children’s new clothing to donate before meetings.
Thursday, Sept. 19, the ad hoc light pole committee monthly meeting is at 7 p.m.
Saturday, Sept. 21 from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. is Plantation Lakes’ annual community yard sale. Over 200 families usually participate. The social committee will have a special dedicated area to raise funds for future Plantation Lakes’ community events. Residents will receive an email and flier in their mailbox in mid-August with registration details. Participating residents will receive a large bow to hang on their mailboxes. Arriving shoppers will receive a map of participating homes. It is a beneficial event for participants and shoppers.
Saturday, Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. is Plantation Lakes’ annual Holiday Boutique. Some outdoor vendor spaces are still available. If you know interested vendors, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.

Saturday, Sept. 14, the www.beautifycarolinaforest.org group will meet at the Carolina Forest Recreation Center at 8 a.m. to collect litter on Carolina Forest roads.
Saturday, Aug. 17, Carolina Forest Civic Association’s Joe DeFeo Memorial Charity Golf Tournament will be hosted by Legends Golf Resort Heathland Course at 1500 Legends Drive. Buffet lunch is at noon and shotgun start at 2 p.m. Cost is $65 per person or $260 for captain’s choice four-person teams. Contact email@example.com.
