Brenda Tuel (New)

Happy fall, everyone. There are a lot of events going on here and around the Myrtle Beach and Carolina Forest areas.

Berkshire Forest is having its annual Fall Boutique this Saturday, Oct. 5 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Berkshire’s amenity center at 1000 Brentford Place. What a great time to search for that one special gift. There will be 22 unique vendors for you to check out. See you this Saturday.

In support of the Friends of the Carolina Forest Library, they and the Horry Country Parks and Recreation Department are sponsoring a Family Fun Fair planned for Saturday, Oct. 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost is $5.

Come and enjoy the rock climbing, moon bounce, boom blaster, skee ball, toss games, spin art, pumpkin painting and petting zoo.

Food will be available to purchase.

For information or to volunteer, call Marilyn Keyser at 843-503-2794.

On Saturday, Oct. 12 at 6:30 p.m., Berkshire is having Oktoberfest at the amenity center.

They will serve brats and krauts and a side of potato salad. You can bring an entree or dessert and your own beverage.

RSVP by Oct. 8 to Brenda at bguerin@associatedasset.com.

Berkshire residents are cleaning their closets and attics getting ready for the fall Berkshire community yard sale Oct. 19 from 8 a.m. - noon. I hope you stop by and see all the great bargains.

As most of you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Over the years, with the support of many of our Berkshire residents, I ran Rally for the Cure golf tournaments. We raised a lot of money and had fun too.

An event is planned for Oct. 19 at the Crown Reef Resort to raise money sponsored by the American Cancer Society. Jackie Miles, who is a team sponsor for Custom Shirt Zone, wants you to come walk with her at this event.

Registration is 8 a.m. and the walk is 9 a.m.

Contact Jackie at 336-462-7365 or jackie.miles@customshirtzone.com so she can order you a T-shirt in time for the event.

Come walk with us is to raise awareness and fund an end to breast cancer. “What Unites Us, Ignites Us.”

As many of you know, pickleball has taken off as a great sport here in Myrtle Beach. Many pickleball courts are popping up in various Carolina Forest communities.

A couple here in Berkshire that love pickleball are Mary and Bob Agnetti. They just recently won the bronze medal in the USAPA Mid-Atlantic Regional Pickleball Tournament. Congratulations Mary and Bob.

For those here in Berkshire, there is a group that meets for pickleball up at the amenity center tennis area on Monday nights at 6:30.

Tom Stanley and Frank Cooper will run some instructional clinics and round robins in the future.

For more information, contact Tom at 843-236-0426.

This is what’s happening here for Halloween: On Saturday, Oct. 26 at 6 p.m., there is a planned golf cart parade from Augusta Plantation down Brentford to the amenity center.

Once everyone arrives at the amenity center, a Trunk or Treat will take place. There will be prizes given out for best decorated trunk and/or golf cart.

Halloween is Thursday, Oct. 31. Hours for trick/treating are from 5- 8 p.m. here in Berkshire.

If you plan to hand out your trick or treat candy, make sure you turn your front lights on.

If you want to know more about the events and activities here in Berkshire, check out the calendar at www.berkshireforest.org.

As always, I like hearing from you about any event or special life story you would like to share.

You can email me at berkshireforestcommunity@gmail.com.
