Rosa Lee Owens, 97, died May 21 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 28, 1921, in Shelby, North Carolina, a daughter of the late James and Lilly Love Smith.

Rosa enjoyed spending time with her family and working in her yard. Her love for flowers and her lawn were almost as much as she loved God.

She was a strong and faithful Christian. She enjoyed traveling with her church family when able and attended Sunday school.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Myrtle Beach. She enjoyed spending time in North Carolina with her family and being with her grandchildren.

She was devoted mother, sister and grandmother to her family.

She was also preceded in death by daughter Gerri Armstrong.

Survivors include son Michael Owens of Myrtle Beach; daughter Jan O Benton of Myrtle Beach; sisters Kay Furr of Kings Mountain, North Carolina, and Doris Murray of Shelby, North Carolina; grandchildren Jimmie and Bobby Armstrong (Debra), Sandy Long, Brandon Mishoe, Andrea Benton, Joanna Babbitt (Zach) and Michael Owens; great-grandchildren Tiffany and Shane Armstrong, Crystal Dix (Matt), Tyler Long, Preston and William Mishoe, Owen and Madilynn Babbitt and Rhyan Knowles and five great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held May 23 at McMillian-Small Funeral Home. Interment followed at Ocean Woods Memorial Cemetery.
