PAWLEYS ISLAND—Phyllis E. Osborne, 92, passed away peacefully at The Lakes of Litchfield surrounded by her loving family and devoted caregivers.

Born in 1926, she was the last of seven children born to her parents Mary Beatty Patterson and Wilbur Patterson of North Liberty, Pennsylvania.

She married Harry E. Osborne on Jan. 7, 1949, and they made their home for 62 years in Grove City, Pennsylvania, until her husband’s death in October of 2012. Mrs. Osborne then moved to South Carolina to be closer to her family. 

A 1947 graduate of Christian H. Buhl Hospital Nursing School, Mrs. Osborne devoted her career to serving her patients and their families. She began her nursing career at the Veteran’s Hospital in Butler, Pennsylvania, and upon relocation to Grove City, was employed for the majority of her career by Grove City Hospital as a medical/surgical and obstetric RN. She was also employed by Grove Manor in Grove City prior to retirement. Mrs. Osborne served as a volunteer for the American Red Cross, the American Heart Association, the Grove City Food Pantry and was a member of Tower Presbyterian Church. She was also an active participant with the original Harvard Nurses’ Health Study which began in 1976. 

She is survived by daughter Dana Osborne Kiser and husband, Terry of Pawleys Island; grandchildren Lauren Kiser Meekins and husband Blake and Mitchell Osborne Kiser and wife, Elizabeth Jeter Kiser, all of Columbia, along with three great-grandchildren Bryce Edward Meekins, Avery Elizabeth Meekins and Mitchell Allen Kiser.

She was preceded in death by husband Harry in 2012 and son Michael Bruce in 1961. She was also preceded by her parents, and siblings Thomas Patterson, Ruth Patterson Carothers, Dorothy Patterson McNeish, Richard Patterson, Jane Patterson Midberry and Mildred Patterson Webster in addition to numerous nieces, nephews and their families. 

Services for Mrs. Osborne will be announced at a later date and held in Pawleys Island and also in Grove City, Pennsylvania. Her remains will be interred with her husband and son at Crestview Memorial Park in Grove City.
