MURRELLS INLET—Lawrence E. Mills, 89, passed away peacefully at his residence on Sept, 18.

Born in Painesville, Ohio, he was a son of the late William Henry and Myrtle Irene (Lungenbeal) Mills.

Mr. Mills was a career U.S. Army engineer, serving actively during the Korean Conflict. He was a longtime member of the American Legion Post 178 in Murrells Inlet.

Surviving Mr. Mills are son William and wife Carole of Kentucky; daughter Susan K. McKinley of Indiana; grandchildren Bill Jr., Amy Powell, Shawn, Charles, Christopher and Heather McKinley and Kayla Caton; 18 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are his dear friends Davy Wrenn and Atchie Summers.

A very loving thank you from Lawrence’s family is extended to Regency Hospice and nurses for their loving care during his final illness.

Services for Mr. Mills will be private.
