SOCASTEE—Jerry C. Willhite, 80, went to be with his Lord on Aug. 13 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Aug. 22, 1938, in Alma, Arkansas, a son of the late Charlie Clifford and Theda Lavona Alice Skelton Willhite.

Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.

Jerry honorably served in the U.S. Air Force retiring after 23 years. Following retirement, he worked at Neil Johnson Buick-GMC, retiring again after 20 years of service. In his retirement he accomplished several projects, traveled, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Jerry was a long-term member of Socastee Family Worship Center and served in several leadership capacities.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elizabeth Hucks Willhite; sons Jerry C. Willhite Jr. and wife Pamela of Springfield, Missouri, and Nelson W. Willhite of Myrtle Beach; grandchildren Daniel, Ruth and Naomi; sisters Janice Page and husband Don Page of Salem, Oregon, and Lacreta Branscumb of Eufaula, Oklahoma, and many other family and friends that will miss him.

Funeral services were held Aug.18 at Socastee Family Worship Center with Pastor Rabon Stewart and Pastor Tony Martin officiating. Burial followed at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Goldfinch Funeral Services in Murrells Inlet was in charge of arrangements.
