MYRTLE BEACH—James P. LaPietra, 76, passed away on Aug. 4 at his home.
He was born May 31, 1943, son of the late Joseph N. and Elizabeth T. (Lennon) LaPietra.
He is survived by his brother Joseph; his wife Gladys; sons William and Benjamin and daughters Lizzie and Nathalie.
Jimbo, as known to his family and friends, was a beloved husband, father, and mentor. He was musically talented and played the guitar, mandolin, and ukulele, as well as composed songs inspired by special moments in his life.
His hobbies included reading, photography, making pizza, baking pies and fixing things around the house. Jimbo loved the beach and enjoyed going on the Waccamaw River on his canoe. He had an appreciation of art, a keen interest in other cultures and enjoyed traveling abroad. He will be deeply missed by family and friends.
A funeral Mass was held Aug. 10 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church followed by interment at Hillcrest Cemetery.
