MURRELLS INLET—Capt. Douglas Anderson, 84, passed away Sept. 21 at MUSC.

Born in Staten Island, New York, he was a son of the late Alfred and Jeanette Anderson. 

Mr. Anderson honorably served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from U.S. Airways as an airplane captain after 25 years of service.

He was also a real estate developer in Pittsburgh. Mr. Anderson was a New York Giants fan and enjoyed playing golf.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joan Anderson; son Douglas Anderson and wife Carie; daughter Karen Alexander and husband Timothy; granddaughter Kaitlyn; sister Carolee Maniscalco and husband Dr. Albert Maniscalco; sister-in-law Jane Keil and husband James; nephews Albert and Mark Maniscalco and Brendan and Daniel Keil and niece Kristen Ricciutti.

A funeral service was held Sept. 25 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel. Burial followed at Hillcrest Cemetery. 

Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel, was in charge of the arrangements.
