HEMINGWAY—Memorial services for Donald Douglas, 60, took place Aug. 10 in Center Baptist Church in Hemingway.

Douglas passed away Aug. 7 in Hemingway at his home, surrounded by family and his beloved canine companion Cain.

He was born on July 28, 1959, in Hemingway, the youngest son of the late John Angus Ray Douglas and Shelby Jean Rowe Douglas.

He was a 1977 graduate of Pleasant Hill High where he lettered in football, basketball and baseball. He attended the University of South Carolina and was a die-hard Gamecock fan.

He is survived by daughter Kelly Douglas of Macon, Georgia; sisters Renee Lawrimore of Manning and Shelby (Don) Trento of Naples, Florida; brother John (Noriene) Douglas of Mt. Pleasant; nieces Faith (JP) Truesdale of Johnsonville and Erin Douglas of New York, New York; special caregiving aunts and uncles Joyce and Floyd Tyler of Isle of Palms, and Patsy and Rubeth Earl Williams of Hemingway; great-nephew Jake Truesdale; great-nieces Lucy and AnnElise Truesdale along with other aunts, uncles and a host of loving cousins.

For those that knew the “Duckman,” you know he did things his way. He never met a stranger, could charm ladies of all ages, captivate any living animal that crossed his path and quote the book of Proverbs.

In lieu of flowers, Donald requested donations be made to St. Frances Animal Center, 125 N Ridge Street, Georgetown, SC 29440. www.sfanimals.org

Douglas is entrusted to the care of Lewis Crematory and Funeral Services, Myrtle Beach.
