MYRTLE BEACH—Billy Gardner, 80, passed away Aug. 30 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. 

He was born on Feb. 22, 1939, in Horry County, the son of William A. and Gussie Jordan Gardner.

Gardner served his country in the U.S. Army, owned and operated Billy Gardner Tree Service for more than 30 years, and prior to owning and operating the tree service, he was employed with GTE for a number of years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.

Billy, is predeceased by his parents; son Rodney; granddaughter Jessica and several brothers and a sister.

Gardner is survived by wife Phyllis; her children Shawn Pitman-Anderson (Michael) and Joey Pitman (Leann); children of the heart Melanie Marinos and Jason Pridgen; the mother of his children, Constance Gardner and her children, Johnny, Tammy, and Timothy (JoAnn);  daughter Yvette Grace (Roy), of Simpsonville; her mother Marie Britt (Charles); his recently-found daughter Theresa Anderson (Vaughn), of Fort Wayne, Indiana.; brothers Gene Gardner, and McRoy Gardner (Julia) of Lenoir, North Carolina; special friends who were family, Mic and Flo Chipman, and their children Alisha and Karl and numerous grandchildren, great-grands, nieces, nephews and friends.

Services will be private.

Gardner is entrusted to the care of Lewis Crematory and Funeral Services, Myrtle Beach.
