A second person has died following a two-vehicle crash Thursday morning on S.C. 9, authorities said.
Lance Cpl. Matt Southern with the S.C. Highway Patrol said the wreck happened around 9:30 a.m. near Camp Swamp Road.
A 2011 Kia Sorento attempting to turn left from Camp Swamp Road on to S.C. 9 was struck by a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe traveling north on S.C. 9.
A passenger in the Kia who was not wearing a seat belt died at McLeod Loris Hospital Thursday from multiple trauma caused by the crash. She was identified as 82-year-old Joan McLain of Loris by Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler.
The driver of the Kia, who was identified as Raymond McLain, 82, of Loris, suffered injuries and was airlifted to Grand Strand Medical Center where he died Friday morning from multiple trauma, Fowler said.
The driver of the Chevrolet was also injured and was taken to McLeod Loris Hospital.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
