A pedestrian died after being struck by an Horry County Sheriff's Office SUV Friday night on S.C. 31, according to Lance Cpl. David Jones with S.C. Highway Patrol.

The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Marcus Williamson of Conway, said Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard. Williamson died on scene from multiple traumatic injuries.

The collision happened around 8:20 p.m. on S.C. 31 near Robert M. Grissom Parkway when a northbound 2017 Ford Interceptor SUV struck a pedestrian, officials said.

The individual struck was pronounced dead on the scene, Jones said.

The crash remains under investigation by S.C. Highway Patrol.
