Two Loris High School athletes will be headed to Fayetteville, N.C., to attend college and play football this fall.
Cam Boyd and Bruce Williams have both signed and committed to attend Methodist University.
The two players were joined by family members and a room full of friends and classmates as they took part in the signing ceremony Feb. 6.
“This is a great day for Loris football and it’s a great day for Bruce and Cam,” coach Jamie Snider said at the start of the ceremony.
He said when Boyd and Williams visited Methodist University in September, they fell in love with the campus.
“It will offer them a great opportunity to continue their athletic careers. Both did a great job for us this year,” Snider said.
Lisa Ellis, the mother of Bruce Williams, said she was extremely proud of her son’s accomplishments.
“He has always loved football and I knew he would want to continue on after high school,” she said.
Williams said another factor in his decision to choose Methodist University is the fact he has another friend already attending that college. He plans to major in physical education and coaching.
Boyd said he plans to major in engineering.
“They have a good education where I can concentrate on education and not just sports,” he said.
His mother, Crystal Riggins, said as she watched her son through the years, she knew he would one day be playing for a college.
“I am very excited,” she said.
