The 3rd annual Salute to Loris American Heroes Veteran’s Day Tribute takes place this Saturday, Nov. 10 at 10 a.m.

The guest speaker will be S. C. State Senator Greg Hembree and there will be special music by the Loris High School Choir.

The special event is sponsored by the Loris Women’s Coalition. Veda Nichols is president of the organization.

“This is a chance to say thank you to our veterans who have valiantly fought and served our country to secure our freedom,” Nichols said. “This is our big event of the year.”

She said more than 90 Loris High students will participate in the mini-concert which will be full of patriotic music.

“The music will be the centerpiece of the event,” Nichols said. “We will have a reception following.”

She said there are 12 members of the Women’s Coalition who help put together the salute each year.

“This is a salute our veterans greatly deserve.

In the past, it has been an invite-only event but now it is open to anyone who would like to attend. Because of the bigger crowd that is expected, it will be held in the Loris High School Auditorium. In the past it has been held in the Center for Health and Fitness.
