William Henry Jones

On July 16, Demetrick Simon was gunned down on Maple Street in Loris.

The 39-year old man was found beside the road and was rushed to McLeod Loris hospital where he later died from the injuries.

Last week, an arrest was made in the case.

The Horry County Police Department arrested William Henry Jones II, 26, of Loris Thursday. He is charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent felony.

He remains incarcerated at J Reuben Long Detention Center. Bond on a murder charge must be set by a Circuit Court judge.

Jones has no prior criminal history, according to information released when he appeared before a judge following his arrest.

If he is convicted on the charges, he could receive a sentence of up to life in prison.

No motive for the shooting has been released.

The HCPD worked with the Loris Police Department and U.S. Marshals Service in making the apprehension.
