One person died after a collision that happened Monday afternoon in Horry County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Cpl. Sonny Collins said the crash happened around 1:50 p.m. at the exit ramp from U.S. 501 southbound onto George Bishop Parkway.
A Chevrolet Corvette traveling south on U.S. 501 exited off of U.S. 501 "onto or towards" George Bishop Parkway, Collins said.
The driver of the Corvette, who was not wearing a seat belt, was driving too fast for conditions and the vehicle proceeded through the end of the ramp and over a curb. The vehicle ended up striking a Toyota minivan.
The driver of the Corvette died as a result of the wreck. An occupant of the minivan was taken to a hospital.
Horry County Coroner Robert Edge identified the deceased as 24-year-old Thaddeus Leshawn Hess from Myrtle Beach.
Hess died at Grand Strand Medical Center from internal injuries at about 2:20 p.m. Monday.
The U.S. Secret Service confirmed Tuesday there was counterfeit currency present at the scene of the crash.
