New Kangaroo opens Sept. 27

A new Kangaroo Express and Subway restaurant are set to open Sept. 27 in Carolina Forest.

Kangaroo Express announced Wednesday the grand opening of a new store at 4301 River Oaks Drive in Myrtle Beach, S.C., marking the second Kangaroo Express store built from the ground-up in four years.

The grand opening will be celebrated on Friday, Sept. 27 with a variety of festivities, including a ribbon-cutting event and $2,000 check presentation to the United Way of Horry County.

The United Way of Horry County impacts the lives of thousands of local Horry County residents who experience abuse or require family support. Kangaroo Express’ donation will provide a meal and safe haven to more than 38 families of four over the course of a year.

The celebration will include family fun activities, giveaways, food specials, games and big-ticket prizes.

Event attendees can also enjoy a free small Bean Street Coffee from 6 – 9 a.m., 25-cent hot dogs from 12 – 2 p.m. and free samples throughout the day.

“Kangaroo Express has been a part of the Myrtle Beach community for many years, serving the on-the-go lifestyle of its residents and those simply passing through for a visit to the beach,” said Dave Bigham, regional sales director at Kangaroo Express. “With the opening of this store, we look forward to serving even more guests and offering a new, contemporary locationfor guests to stop in, fuel up and eat fresh.”

The Kangaroo and Subway represent the latest addition to the burgeoning commercial activity in the area of River Oaks Drive and International Drive.

A McDonald's opened at the same intersection earlier this year. A new Bojangles and Murphy's Express gas station are also deep into construction.

A Lowes Foods grocery store is under construction and expected to open in 2014. CVS has plans to open a nearby drug store in 2015.

The new Kangaroo will feature fresh sandwiches, an assortment of bakery options and great tasting Bean Street Coffee, the unique brand of coffee served only at Kangaroo Express stores.

Guests can customize their Bean Street Coffee with options such as sweeteners and flavor shots, including caramel and vanilla, and additions such as extra boosts of caffeine and whipped topping.

The store will also feature a Subway restaurant that includes a drive-thru. About 30 guests can be accommodated for inside dining.
