A 41-year-old motorcyclist was killed and a passenger was injured in an early morning wreck that happened Wednesday in Horry County, authorities said.

Benjamin Hall from West Virginia was identified as the deceased, said Horry County Deputy Coroner Patty Bellamy in a news release.

The single-vehicle crash happened around 3:20 a.m., according to Cpl. Sonny Collins with the S.C. Highway Patrol.

A 2017 Harley-Davidson was traveling north on U.S. 501 when the vehicle got to where the highway and U.S. 501 Business “split” and ran into the median and struck a sign, Collins said.

Hall, who was driving the motorcycle and not wearing a helmet, was killed as a result of the crash.

A passenger, who was also not wearing a helmet, was transported to a local hospital.
