MURRELLS INLET—Richard “Dick” H. Hoelzel, 86, passed away peacefully on May 1 at his residence.

Born in Newark, New Jersey, he was a son of the late Gordon and Emma (Gerst) Hoelzel.

A loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, Dick was a Korean Conflict veteran and honorably served his country.

Raising his family as a tool and die tradesman, he and his wife Rose retired to Murrells Inlet which afforded Dick the opportunity to pursue his passion of golfing, achieving three holes in one.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents are son Richard Hoelzel; sister Doris and brothers Gordon, Robert and Kenneth Hoelzel.

Surviving are his loving wife of 58 years, Rose T. Hoelzel; sons Roger (Laura) Hoelzel of Toms River, New Jersey, and Bill (Ann) Hoelzel of Hillsborough, New Jersey; daughter: Karen Hoelzel (Debbie Faiello) of Milford, New Jersey, Patricia (Charlie) Boyle of Somerset, New Jersey; grandchildren Kristen, Allison, Matthew Hoelzel and Erin Boyle and brother John Hoelzel.

A Mass of the Christian burial will be held in New Jersey. The family received friends on May 4 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel.
