A 42-year-old Surfside Beach woman was arrested Saturday, charged with a hit-and-run on Friday that killed the driver of a motorcycle and injured a passenger, according to public records.
Ginger Jewel Horton was release from the J. Reuben Long Detention Center Sunday after posting $100,000 bond, according to online jail records.
The crash shortly before 2 a.m. Friday killed motorcycle driver William Hogue, 61, of Fayetteville, North Carolina.
According to an arrest warrant and police report, Hogue was headed south on Highway 17 near Duplin Winery in North Myrtle Beach when a black Nissan Altima in a median turn-only lane made a left turn in front of him.
The female passenger was ejected from the Suzuki motorcycle and managed to crawl to the sidewalk before taken to Grand Strand Medical Center by Horry County EMS, according to the police report.
The report and arrest warrant say Horton contacted police 10 hours after the wreck and admitted she was the driver of the Nissan.
She was arrested and charged with two counts: one hit-and-run with great bodily injury, and one count of hit-and-run resulting in death, according to records.
