Police charged an 18-year-old Myrtle Beach man in connection with a Sunday night shooting that sent one person to the hospital.

Denardo Sincere Morgan is charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to a news release from the city police department.

The shooting happened around 8:30 p.m at the Palms Court, which is at 600 Chester St., according to the release. Officers found the wounded victim and took him to the hospital.

"Public safety is a shared responsibility and I want to thank our team, all of our law enforcement partners and our community members and visitors who assisted us in apprehending this subject so quickly," MBPD Chief Amy Prock said in the release. "We were able to take him into custody in less than an hour. This is outstanding work."

The release did not provide any information about the victim's condition, but MBPD Lt. Brian Murphy told WMBF News, myhorrynews.com's news partner, that the victim is in critical condition after having emergency surgery.

“Our thoughts are with the victim and his family," Prock said. "We are praying for his full recovery.”
