A Myrtle Beach Middle School teacher was arrested at the school Wednesday morning, officials said.
Stacy Hetzel, a reading intervention teacher at the school, faces charges of public intoxication and unlawful possession of a controlled substance, said Horry County Schools spokeswoman Lisa Bourcier in an email.
According to an arrest warrant, "two round white pills with R35 inscribed on one side" were found in Hetzel's purse.
"Using drugs.com, the pill was identified as Clonazepam, a Schedule IV substance," the warrant said. "The defendant advised she no longer has a prescription for the drug."
Hetzel has been placed on paid administrative leave. She has been an Horry County Schools employee since July 2008.
