A Myrtle Beach man accused of failing to file income tax returns was arrested Tuesday, according to a release from the South Carolina Department of Revenue.
Agents with the department arrested 35-year-old Christopher Joseph Greenwell, who is charged with two counts of attempting to evade a tax.
According to arrest warrants, in 2014 and 2015 Greenwell received nearly $900,000 in gross income but failed to voluntarily and timely file individual income tax returns.
"In doing so, Greenwell evaded the assessment of more than $17,000 in South Carolina tax," the release said.
Greenwell made misleading and false statements to agents during the investigation, according to the warrants.
He is currently being held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
