S.C. 31 wrong way driver

WMBF viewers sent in videos of an alleged chase between authorities and a suspect.

A driver led state troopers on a high-speed chase through Horry County Saturday afternoon before crashing in front of Pirates Voyage, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.

Cpl. Sonny Collins with the SCHP said troopers got a call around 3 p.m. about a reckless driver in a neighborhood off Carolina Forest Boulevard.

When a trooper spotted the vehicle, it sped away. Collins said the vehicle ended up on S.C. 31 traveling in the wrong direction.

The driver exited off S.C. 31 and troopers lost sight of the vehicle, but Horry County police found it a short time later, and the driver crashed the car.

The driver was taken to Grand Strand Medical Center, Collins said.
