Police responded to a shooting in Conway Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

The incident occurred at U.S. 378 and Hemingway Street around 4 p.m., City of Conway spokeswoman Taylor Newell said. Residents in the area were asked to shelter in place.

One person was shot and was taken to a hospital.

Police continue to search for the suspect, described as a heavyset black man between 30 and 40 years old who was wearing dark clothing.
