A Little River woman died in the hospital after a crash that happened Tuesday morning on S.C. 90 involving a sport utility vehicle and a garbage truck, authorities said.
Mary Campbell, 84, died at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center from multiple traumatic injuries around 9:45 a.m., said Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard in a news release.
The wreck happened around 9:07 a.m. in front of a recycling center in Little River, according to Cpl. Sonny Collins with the S.C. Highway Patrol.
A Buick SUV “was turning left out of the recycling center to travel east on Highway 90,” Collins said. In doing so, the Buick pulled out in front of a westbound 2018 Waste Industries trash truck and the two vehicles collided.
The driver of the Buick, Campbell, who was not wearing a seat belt, was freed from the vehicle before being taken to the hospital, according to the Horry County Fire Rescue Twitter page.
The driver of the garbage truck was not injured in the wreck.
No charges are expected to be filed in connection with the crash.
