A 34-year-old man died in a wreck near Conway Friday, authorities said.

Christopher Gude from the Conway area died on scene, Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler said in a news release.

Trooper First Class Tyler Tidwell with the S.C. Highway Patrol said the wreck happened around 6:30 p.m. south of Conway near Neighbor Lane.

A 2009 Chevrolet pickup truck heading south on U.S. 701 ran off the right side of the road and traveled alongside a ditch.

The vehicle hit multiple culverts and struck a telephone pole before hitting a fence line and overturning.

The driver, Gude, was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected as a result of the wreck.

An autopsy was set for Saturday, Fowler's release said.

The Highway Patrol is investigating the wreck.
