A 65-year-old man died in a crash that happened in Horry County Wednesday morning, authorities said.

Bruce Allen Jr. of Rockingham, North Carolina, was identified as the deceased, Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler said in a news release.

Cpl. Sonny Collins with the S.C. Highway Patrol said the wreck occurred around 9:10 a.m.

A 2015 Toyota Corolla "pulling from Enoch Road" onto U.S. 501 pulled out in front of a 2001 Honda three-wheel vehicle, and the Honda struck the Toyota.

The driver of the Honda, Allen, was killed as a result of the collision. Collins said he was not wearing a helmet.

Motorcycle operators and passengers who are at least 21 years old are not required to wear helmets, according to state law.

The driver of the Toyota was taken to a hospital and is being charged with failure to yield the right of way.

The wreck remains under investigation.
