Berkshire Forest is expanding.

Pulte Homes recently announced plans to build about 600 single-family homes and add another pool to the Carolina Forest community. New amenities will also be offered.

“Berkshire Forest has been in a top selling community in the Myrtle Beach area for many years now due to its convenient location, access to great schools and access to highly desirable resort living,” said Jaymie Dimbath, vice president of sales and marketing for Pulte Homes, in prepared comments.

Dimbath cited growth in the Myrtle Beach area — particularly in Carolina Forest — which, she said, “supports the need for the additional number of homes.”

Officials say the community, located in the River Oaks Drive area of The Forest, will grow from 625 acres to more than 850 acres.

“With the additional homes coming, we wanted to take the opportunity to bring more and unique amenities to this community including a lazy river, a splash pad, an additional pool, pickleball and more for our residents to enjoy,” Dimbath said.

The new residences will feature gourmet kitchens and personalized designer finishes.

There are two sections of expansion.

The enlargement calls for purchasing a portion of the Berkshire Village site located on the opposite side of Augusta Plantation Drive from the community in addition to extending into the Bella Vita development, said Horry County interim planning director David Schwerd in an email.

Pulte Homes is buying sections of the two developments and adding them into Berkshire Forest.
