An investigation is underway after a BB gun was found in a North Myrtle Beach High student's backpack Tuesday morning, according to the school's administrators.
"This morning during morning searches, a plastic BB gun was found in a student’s backpack," Principal Teresa Todd said in a message sent to parents. "Law enforcement has been contacted and the incident is under investigation. Once the investigation has concluded, the student will face appropriate disciplinary actions per school policy as well as potential criminal charges.
"Keeping our school safe is our priority every day," Todd's message continued. "Parents, please help us in our efforts by reminding your child that weapons or illegal contraband of any type are NOT allowed on school property. Thank you for your continued support of our schools and our students."
