Rezoning opposition, CMC plans hospital in Carolina Forest

“We bought this house because of how quiet and beautiful it is. If they build the hospital right there,” Rich McAndrew said of a proposed Conway Medical Center hospital that will be near the edge of his property in the Farm in the Carolina Forest community. “It doesn’t make sense. It won’t be quiet. This was our forever home.” He and his wife Judy McAndrew have joined forces with some neighbors to oppose the rezoning of the land that would clear the path for the hospital to be built. The site is located off International Drive across from the Lewis Ocean Bay Heritage Preserve and beside a county-owned preserve. Photo by Janet Morgan/janet.morgan@myhorrynews.com

Rich and Judy McAndrew walk by the homeowners association’s pond at the edge of The Farm in the Carolina Forest community on Monday. The two have joined forces with some neighbors to oppose Conway Medical Center’s proposed hospital. The site for the hospital is located off International Drive across from the Lewis Ocean Bay Heritage Preserve and beside a county-owned preserve. Some homeowners in The Farm say they worry about future development if the rezoning is approved, increased traffic through residential streets and their quality of life. “We bought this house because of how quiet and beautiful it is. If they build the hospital right there,” Rich McAndrew said pointing to a proposed access road that will skirt behind his house and the pond. “It doesn’t make sense. It won’t be quiet. Should the U.S. have impeached Donald Trump?
The second impeachment of President Trump occurred Jan. 13, one week before his term was to end. If the Senate holds a trial and a two-thirds majority of Senators present vote to convict Trump, he would be either the first president in U.S. history removed from office by impeachment or the first former president convicted by the Senate. Do you think the House of Representatives should have impeached President Trump?
