Croissants Bistro & Bakery cupcake eating contest

26 contestants took part in Croissants Bistro & Bakery’s 6th Annual Cupcake Eating Contest on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at Croissants Bistro & Bakery.

Competition participants, 18 years and older, were invited to “have their cake and eat it too” during this cupcake eating marathon.

Contestants were given five minutes to eat as many cupcakes as possible.

Ryan Grant placed 3rd overall, consuming a total of 31 cupcakes. Mark Lyle placed 2nd overall, consuming 33 cupcakes.

Molly Schuyler devoured a total of 59 cupcakes, setting a new record, and was named Myrtle Beach’s 2017 "Cupcake Champion.”

Schuyler was awarded with a trophy and $500 cash. Other finalists received a medal and prize packages, which included a variety of prizes donated by Myrtle Beach area attractions.

Croissants Bistro & Bakery has been serving the Grand Strand for 22 years, offering a variety of services, including breakfast, lunch, brunch, specialty cakes, catering, and their annual Fourth of July Cupcake Eating Contest.

Croissants Bistro & Bakery is a Certified S.C. Grown “Fresh on the Menu” Restaurant. Owner Heidi Vukov was named South Carolina Restaurateur of the Year in 2011 and her cookbook, “Bonjour Y’all” was recently published.

Vukov opened a second location of Croissants, called Croissants at the Grande Dunes, on July 8 at Heidi’s Corner, 8014 North Kings Highway. Additionally, Vukov will open a sustainable seafood restaurant, Hook & Barrel, in mid-July.
