Freestyle Music Park’s new owners have signed a $20 million mortgage with a foreign lender, fueling more speculation that the theme park may be planning to reopen.
Myrtle Beach same-sex couple denied marriage license
All Benji Herndon and Lora Talbot wanted for their Valentine's Day was to get a marriage license. However, due to S.C. state law, the couple, who have been together for the past three years, were denied their request to be counted as a married couple in the eyes of the law.

CCU officials contemplate athletic conference change
Coastal Carolina University may be leaving the Big South. Officials with the university and the CCU Board of Trustees have started discussions to see about moving the university out of the Big South Conference and head to either the Colonial Athletic Association or to the Southern Conference. 
Carolina Forest football team beefs up schedule in 2012
Fort Dorchester, White Knoll and Beaufort are among the Class AAAA giants the Carolina Forest football team will tackle in 2012, according to schedules released by the school.

Ocean Bay Middle collects more than 1,200 pairs of jeans for 'Jeans For Teens'
Students at Ocean Bay Middle School collected more than 1,200 pairs of jeans for locals in need through Aéropostale’s charity drive “Teens For Jeans.” 

The donations were collected during a two-week period, ending on Feb. 10. 

River Otters to represent River Oaks Elementary
At a meeting last week, the River Oaks Elementary school naming committee chose the colors teal and bronze and the new mascot River Otters and will recommend them to the Horry County School Board for approval at an upcoming meeting.
