John Edward Conness, 48, died Jan. 11 at his home.

Born in Columbus, Ga., he was a son of the late Robert Conness and Mary Samsen.

He loved people, soccer, the outdoors and the Oakland Raiders.

Surviving in addition to his mother “Tucky” and her husband John Samsen of Bluffton, are children Luke and Logan Conness, both of Surfside Beach; sister Anne Conness of California; brother Brian Conness of North Carolina; stepmother Martha Conness of North Carolina and nephew Finn Conness.

A memorial service was held Jan. 15 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel with the Rev. Margaret Hiller of Unity Christ Church officiating.

Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
